3D - blog topic 2

I looked at a job add from Unity in Brighton, regarding a placement for a 3D content tech artist. I analysed the requirements in detail to see if I measure up to them:

Skills and Relevant Experience
  • Currently studying at University and looking for a placement year as part of your studies
  • Enrolled in or recently completed a Games, Computer Science, Traditional Art, Illustration, or Animation related degree
  • Knowledge of 3D content creation packages such as 3ds Max, Maya, Modo, or Blender
  • Maintain a consistent standard of work
  • Experience using real-time engines and some knowledge of scripting and engine workflows
Bonus Points
  • Knowledge of modern realtime rendering workflows such as Global Illumination and PBR
  • Concept creation, graphic design or UI design
  • Knowledge of 2D content creation pipeline
  • Basic knowledge of C#
I think that I meet the requirements for the main necessary skills and some of the bonus skills, such as knowledge of concept creation and PBR. For the main skills, although I know basic real-time rendering in Unreal engine, it would be ideal to practise this more, and try a different engine such as Unity as this is what I would be using in the job. I do met the requirement of having knowledge of a 3D package such as b3Ds Max, and Zbrush, but I know that I could further improve my knowledge of these programs by practising both low and high-poly workflows during my projects, as well as experiment more with packages such as Substance Designer.
