I knew that I needed a linen texture for the pharaoh's clothing, and I wanted to make an elaborate woven effect within the fabric. I used tutorial resources for substance designer, but made my own changes as I went. I started with a fibre pattern, and then blended two different sizes to make different thicknesses of fibre in the rows. I then used the 2D transform tool to rotate a duplicated row of fibre and wove it by varying the height evenly. I played around with the settings a lot and used many blend nodes to adjust and combine normals of noises and the patterns I used.
I was happy with the final linen texture, although there were times that I thought it would be too thickly woven. Despite this, I found it straightforward to import the texture into substance painter and it looked good in my text paint.
Next I created a leather texture that would be used for the Usekh collar. I used another tutorial, but once again, I changed a lot of the settings to suit the project better. I used the hair noise for the beginning of the leather pattern, then randomly rotated the hairs and beveled. I then inversed the normals, which resulted in the mottled leaather texture. I was happy with the result of this texture and I found that I could do it much faster at this point.
