I started with some thumbnails of different mechanics I could use, including game progression and puzzle mechanics. I decided to create a mirror puzzle in the tomb area that would reveal a treasure for the player to pick up and create more interest and mystery to the room.
I thought about how the compartment with the treasure would be prompted to open, and then took inspiration from existing mirror puzzles in games and created a moodboard based on three different elements: the mirror, the movement and the statue that would be involved in the puzzle.
I then worked out how the compartment would open to reveal the treasure, and thought about the mechanism underneath that would be activated using the reflected beam of light. I tried to show this as much as possible without telling too much through words.
Using my moodboard, I looked at mirror shapes and patterns that could be used for decorative purposes. I also thought about what mirrors I would need.
The next stage that I was up to was the statue and chest design. I wanted it to look like part of the tomb, but also different from the rest of the objects and statues in the tomb to draw in the player.
