Digital Reflection 26 - Developing the Hero Asset room

I started the large room with the hero asset by compiling a moodboard and pulling apart what I wanted to use.

I then did a series of thumbnail sketches. I liked the one I chose the best due to the height and grandiose scale of the trees. It also enforced the idea of a garden courtyard setting well, which is what I wanted my room to be.

I then did some column sketches, using David Roberts' paintings as inspiration for design choices. I went for the lotus shaped column as it matched the theme of the garden well, and my other teamates' column designs.

I then created some plant combinations to work out what would be in the hero asset planter in the centre of the room. I looked at plats regional to ancient egypt.

I then experimented with patterns on the planter, once again going for a lotus design which would show continuity with the columns in the room, and the theme of flora and life. This would also contrast against scenes of violence and battle that occured within the room, as this room will be near the start of the palace and thus one of the more badly damaged rooms.

I utilised the nile god Hapi on the plant pot design to drive home the dedication to the gods that the pharaoh and his people have.
