I started improving what I had done, beginning with the icons to call out details.
I then pulled out my final chosen thumbnail drawing and explained my plans briefly.
For the column iteration, I wanted them to be similar in style to the hero asset room for continuity, but with individuality that fit the theme of the room. As it was a study area, I added in images of the god Thoth, patron of knowledge and education.
I iterated on colour and experimented with bevel effects, using my main room column for comparison. I used more blues to represent royalty and education that comes with this status.
Using my moodboard, I pulled out different shapes of shelves that would be used for scroll storage. I also iterated on scroll storage, and found that the looseley rolled scroll was most effective as it could be used to show disarray in the area.
I knew that I wanted to portray Thoth in this area, and so I iterated on different styles of statue to end up with the most effective. I chose a seated statue as it differed from the standing statues I had explored already in the other rooms, and seemed to match the theme of study better.
I neatened up the presentation for the plants.
For the walls, I once again experimented with imagery of Thoth. I used an Egyptian Ibis as this is the animal associated with Thoth. The style of wall was also a lot simpler than the other walls I had explored, which created a nice contrast.
I used material photobashing to explore the flooring, and decided to use sandstone square slabs decorated with a rug. The rug was made up of different patterns photobashed together.
To further develop this, I explored different colour combinations. I used blues again to match the colour symbolism of the columns.
I did a page of corridor damages, that I would use in the final concept as callouts.
As I did with the Hero Asset room, I presented my work using material and object callouts of less obvious details, so that a 3D artist could model them.
